Carlisle accounting firm rewards top student
A top accountancy student from The University of Cumbria , Carlisle, was rewarded for her outstanding exam results on Monday (October 12) by Lamont Pridmore Accountants.
The Carlisle firm chose to reward the top-performing student on the university’s Accounting and Finance degree with £100 worth of Waterstones book vouchers and a guided tour around their office, which offered the chance to ask questions and get advice on furthering their career.
The lucky student was Linda Collins, who got a grade of 79% for the Financial accounting paper in her summer exams.

Chris Lamont, managing director at Lamont Pridmore, made the presentation. He said: “We know how hard Linda will have had to work to achieve such outstanding results, and we were very impressed with her dedication.
“Linda was part of the university’s first intake for the Accounting and Finance degree, so we are grateful to be able to forge links with the university and thrilled to be playing an active role in moving the profession forward. We hope Linda is the first of many students we will be seeing over the years, and our congratulations go to her.”
Nick Phillips, Course leader for the Accounting and Finance degree, said: “There has been a strong take up of this new course and it is great for the course to have links to the local accounting profession in order to prepare students to move smoothly into the world of work, on completion of their degree.
“We are very grateful for the prize from Lamont Pridmore.”
