Wild Ennerdale
As part of the Wild Ennerdale project, funds are needed to plant 5000 native juniper trees. Juniper trees are particularly important to the Ennerdale valley as it is believed that the name ‘Ennerdale’ originates from ‘enne’ - Old Norse for Juniper. It is thought that the first Scandinavian settlers to the area named the valley after these native trees.
By funding the planting of the trees, Lamont Pridmore are helping to restore the valley and shaping a wild Ennerdale for the future as well as helping to reduce CO2 levels and global warming.
Graham Lamont, chief executive of Lamont Pridmore, commented "We are delighted to be involved in the Wild Ennerdale project, giving our support to the restoration and preservation of this glorious valley. As a company, Lamont Pridmore is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and aims to be carbon neutral by 2010."
Recent initiatives have included increased insulation for all offices, reducing heating levels by 1 degree, installing more efficient heating systems, developing car sharing schemes, using public transport wherever possible, recycling paper and consumables.
The Ennerdale Valley is situated in North West Cumbria within the Lake District National Park.
