Graham Lamont becomes Chair of the Learning and Skills Council
Graham is a well known figure in Cumbria, particularly in the business community.
Welcoming Mr Lamont to his new position, Roger Hoyle, Regional Chairman of LSC North West said, "I am delighted to welcome Graham as the new Chair for LSC Cumbria. He has a passion for training and development and strives to help everyone reach their full potential - and as an existing member of the LSC Council in Cumbria, Graham will provide the continuity that will be invaluable in building on the Council's work.
"Graham brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience which I am sure he will be able to bring to bear in the Council's work in Cumbria, so I am particularly pleased to welcome him to his new role"
Graham is also an author and lecturer on accountancy and performance improvement matters to the accountancy profession and the wider business community. He is a past Chairman of the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants and is the immediate Past President of the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce. He is currently Joint Chair of Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, and is the business representative on the executive of the Cumbria Strategic Partnership. He has also been a governor of a primary school, a public school and two colleges.
Graham was recently invited to become a judge for the North West region of the National Business Awards 2007.
